Breathe deeply. Life begins here.

Anastasis [a’nas.ta.sis] is a place of rest, a place of rejuvenation. A pristine retreat nestled between roaring, secluded oceanfront and majestic mountains, all surrounded by ancient milkwood trees. Walk the short and private path from Anastasis to reach Noordhoek beach, which offers 8 kilometers of the most unspoiled and best protected beaches on the Atlantic Cape coast. So close, yet so far away – Anastasis is a short drive from Cape Town’s city center but offers the peace and seclusion of the graceful country village of Noordhoek.

Anastasis recently won a Renovation Award from House & Leisure Magazine. “It’s hard to believe that this spa-like oasis with its view of the neighbouring milkwood forest was once a dreary room in a dark, dingy house,” wrote Kholeka Kumalo. Click here to see the full article.

Cozy, warm furniture and spacious, high ceilings offering the most remarkable light and ocean vista, all in the seclusion of a private forest of milkwoods.

A house on the mountain

Open the extended glass doors to gaze at mountain grandeur while preparing breakfast in a Smeg-outfitted kitchen, or lace up the hiking boots and take a private-access trail to the challenging ascent of this South Peninsula landmark.

A house by the sea

Sit on the wrap-around deck and enjoy a sundowner while hearing the azure, inviting sea, soaking in the saltwater air. Watch the morning mist float towards Chapman’s peak with a warm cup of coffee in hand. Take the private-access trail straight to the most prized section of beach in all of Noordhoek.

Anastasis blends modern with warm wooden finishes and a subtle African flair. The open plan main living area boasts a chef’s kitchen and dining area with a sweeping view of the ocean and mountains. Surround glass doors slide back, opening the house to an expansive wrap-around deck, seamlessly marrying the outdoor with the indoor. Anastasis is perfect for entertaining – dinner parties and large family get togethers fit well in the space.

The upstairs master bedroom is stunning. Beautiful bathtub enclosed in glass on 3 sides, handmade brass taps and custom Balau flooring — slide back the glass doors to feel the sea breeze and hear the ocean surf as you lay in bed. This bathroom is showcased in House & Leisures February 2018 Collector’s issue.

Perfect for a multi-family get together, the downstairs cottage is complete with a kitchenette and small lounge leading into a bedroom and private entrance and deck leading to the outdoor shower.  A second bedroom can be accessed off the cottage as well. Also downstairs is the “kids room” outfitted with bunk beds, a playroom and the 2nd master bedroom.

Anastasis is situated in the most remarkable setting – mountain and ocean vista and access at your doorstep.  Only 35 minutes from Capetown International Airport – the location of Anastasis offers all the quiet seclusion of Noordhoek village life, but access to the shopping, dining and sightseeing opportunities Capetown has to offer.

Anastasis incorporates genuine Zanzibari decor, sourced from collector warehouses located on this culturally rich island. Doors were one of the most important parts of home construction in Tanzanian and Zanzibari culture, and this early 20th century piece was carefully selected as the visual anchor for our home. Watch as the owners work with local Zanzibari merchants, filing through hundreds of square meters of warehouses to find this amazing piece of art.
